Sydney Guided Walks - Paddington

Paddington Walk

One of Sydney's architectural gems

$20.00pp  (Group Discounts Available)

Paddington has been identified as a place of national heritage significance and an architectural gem. On this walk you will experience the history and visual charm of this suburb.

The route of the walk is along the narrow winding streets and lanes between row upon row of Victorian era terraced houses with intricate iron lacework. Dotted along the way will be boutiques, art galleries, pubs, cafes, public buildings and mansions that predate the terraces.

The commentary with the old photographs, will outline the suburb's development and growth, explain and point out details of the architecture and contain many facts and stories of the history of this unique suburb.

You will learn how 400 acres turned into 3,800 terraced houses. Hear about the people who built them, first lived in them and what they did, ate, wore and used for furniture. Along the way, we pass two mounting blocks that remind us of the era of the horse. We go through Five Ways - the name does not come from the meeting of five roads - and we visit that wonderful space, the old Paddington reservoir.

Paddington is a rich tapestry of 19th century architectural charm and history mixed with trendy retail outlets. Come on the walk to enjoy the total experience of Paddington"
